Good evening friends,
"Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:32) When the apostles asked themselves this question, they had just had an encounter with Jesus Christ as they were on the way to Emmaus. Jesus opened their hearts to understand how the Old Testament scriptures foretold his passion, death, and resurrection. Then he gave them the gift of the Eucharist before vanishing from their sight. Only then were their hearts set afire and they returned to tell the others about their encounter with Jesus. Even today, when Holy Mass is not celebrated publicly, Jesus still wants our hearts to be set on fire by love of Him through the Scriptures and the Eucharist. He gives us His written word in the Scriptures as spiritual nourishment, and He cultivates a hunger for the Eucharist in our hearts. I encourage you to pray with the scriptures (more on that below) in order to continue to be fed spiritually, and to ask the Lord that your heart would be set on fire with love for Him in the Eucharist. Even though you are not able to receive it, it is a good thing that one's heart be on fire with desire for the Eucharist! Remember Jesus' words to his apostle's earlier in the Gospel: "I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!" (Luke 12:49) May our hearts be set on fire by God!

Thank you from the Priests
Thank you to all of you for your kindness and generosity to us and the parish in this time! Many have continued to be generous in tithing, and it is a great blessing for our parish. Your sacrificial tithes are gifts given not only to the parish, but to God. May God bless you for your generosity and faith. Also, the kindness shown to us priests is very touching. Many of you have checked on us, brought us dinners, and sent us little notes of encouragement. It has been so unexpected, and we are truly grateful and blessed! Please know of our gratitude and love for all of you...and our prayers of course!
How to Pray with the Scriptures
Lectio Divina is an ancient way of praying with the Bible, and learning to be fed by the Word of God. It is a way that is open to each and everyone of us to grow in the life of Christ. I wholeheartedly encourage you to learn how to pray using Lectio Divina. See this short guide here to learn how the steps, or check out this helpful video here. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact one of the priests. We would be glad to help you learn how to pray through Lectio Divina.
Prayer to St. Joseph by Pope St. Leo XIII
Pope St. Leo XIII encouraged all Catholics to pray this prayer to St. Joseph after the Rosary for his protection for the Church and ourselves. Recently there has been a renewed interest in the intercession of St. Joseph, which is a good thing. Second to Mary, Joseph is the most powerful intercessor in Heaven with Jesus. I encourage you to start praying this prayer daily! It is found here. St. Joseph, pray for us!
Holy Water Available at Church
Holy Water is a sacramental which helps to dispose us to the grace of Christ, and can bring the healing and protection of God into our lives. It is a good idea to use Holy Water to bless ourselves, our loved ones, our homes, our cars, and to protect ourselves from temptation by sprinkling it on ourselves. If you would like a small bottle of Holy Water, you may pick one up in the gathering space Monday - Friday, 9am-4pm. Baptisms, Confirmations, and First Communions
Baptisms are still celebrated. Please call the parish office (263.6574) for more information. As for First Communions and Confirmations, I will let you know of the new dates as soon as I'm able. For now, please be patient and pray that the Holy Spirit might strengthen your hunger for Christ in the Sacraments.
Divine Mercy Chaplet on Livestream
We will continue to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet on the Livestream Monday - Friday at 6pm on the Cathedral Facebook page. This is a great way to pray as a parish family, so I encourage you to participate. Please see the link below for an invitation from the Stewardship Council.
Confessions:
Monday - Friday: 11am-12pm and 7-8pm
Saturday: 3-4pm and 6:30-7pm
Sunday: 12-12:30pm
The Church is open for private prayer Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. Please enter through the south entrance by the office, and ring the bell to the Church office.

Buenas tardes hermanos,
"¿No ardían nuestros corazones dentro de nosotros mientras nos hablaba en el camino y nos abría las Escrituras?" (Lucas 24;32) Cuando los apóstoles se hicieron esta pregunta, acababan de tener un encuentro con Jesucristo mientras que caminaron a Emaús. Jesús abrió sus corazones para entender cómo las escrituras del Antiguo Testamento predijeron su pasión, muerte y resurrección. Luego les dio el regalo de la Eucaristía antes de desaparecer de su vista. Se ardieron sus corazones con amor y regresaron para contarles a los demás sobre su encuentro con Jesús. Incluso hoy, cuando la Santa Misa no se celebra públicamente, Jesús todavía quiere que nuestros corazones esten en fuego por amor a Él, a través de las Escrituras y la Eucaristía. Nos da su palabra escrita en las Escrituras como alimento espiritual, y cultiva el hambre de la Eucaristía en nuestros corazones. Les animo a orar con las Escrituras (más sobre eso a continuación) para continuar a alimentarse espiritualmente, y para pedirle al Señor que se encienda tu corazón con amor por Él en la Eucaristía. Aunque no pueda recibirlo, ¡es bueno que el corazón de uno esté ardiendo de deseo por la Eucaristía! Recuerdan las palabras de Jesús a las primeras de su apóstol en el Evangelio: "¡He venido a arrojar un fuego sobre la tierra y ¡cuánto desearía que ya hubiera prendido." (Lucas 12;49) ¡Qué nuestros corazones arden por Dios!
